Camera quality is extraordinary and given this and the features, it can be had for a very low price. The Nikon D100 has a six megapixel sensor, a body similarily constructed to previous Nikon DSLR’s, a Nikon F mount and a set of features which make it a great all around fully functional digital slr.

The D100 enters that greay area of the prosumer digicam market which was created when Canon offered its D80. For as little as $300, you get a sturdily built 6.1 megapixel digital slr that is lightweight and fast and produces amazing photos that even at higher ISO levels, are low noise. The D100 responds fast and boots up almost immediately. The menu is user-friendly and the arrangement of the buttons makes ergonomic sense. The battery life is above average and you have your choice of using two lion or six AA betteries. A large range of ISO and white balance settings, along with custom timer controls and excellent included software package round out this low cost but high quality camera.

Image quality for the Nikon D100 digital is also excellent, with nicely balanced color and even contrast. The built in sharpening can produce a less than sharp image, but you can adjust the settings to compensate for this. Consider the fact that for the price of a good point and shoot, you can own a digital slr with many of the features only pros are afforded. Yes, the lenses can be costly, but the images the D100 produces make it well worth the investment.

The Nikon D100 offers advanced digital image sensor technology. Many of the advanced features include: A top of the line CCD sensor with 6.1 effective megapixels, advanced image processing, and a responsive automatic white balance system. The Nikon D100 includes proprietary Nikon features such as three dimensional matrix metering,five-point autofucus with tracking and auto lock, plus the convenience of an on board speedlight with flash control capability. Finally, the D100 digital provides full compatibility with over 40 AF Nikkor lenses, as well as numerous other Nikon accessories, including a new rechargable battery pack and Nikon’s new image conversion and editing software.
